WOMEN’S LACROSSE: The Pride split two games this past week with a win over Roger Williams on Sunday, 17-5, and a loss to Williams on Tuesday, 9-2.
The offenisve explosion against Roger Williams was the Pride’s largest of the season and was spearheaded by a four-goal, two-assist game from senior attacker Allie Davis. Michelle Dorsey and Kelly Gallo each notched hat tricks in the win.
SC scored the first five goals of the game en route to a 7-2 halftime lead. Gallo and Davis got the scoring going with goals in the first three minutes of the half as part of a 7-0 run in the second frame.
On Tuesday the Pride fell for the first time this season as Williams ended their four-game winning streak by holding the Pride to their lowest scoring output of the season.
Springfield looked to be on the move early, scoring the first two goals of the game, but that would end their scoring for the day as the Ephs scored the next nine goals and came away with the 9-2 win.
Anne Versprille still made 14 saves in the loss, as Williams outshot the Pride 33-12 on the day. Williams goalie Ali Piltch made just six saves.
MEN’S LACROSSE: After a week-long break full of long workouts and hard practices, the men’s lacrosse team returned to the field Wednesday night against Middlebury. In their first road game of the year the Pride fell to Middlebury, 18-12.
Ryon Lynch posted seven points with four goals and three assists in defeat, while Bryce Serriello and Dylan Sheehan scored three and two goals, respectively.
Middlebury came out firing, leading to an 8-1 lead that was only broken up by Serriello’s first goal.
The Pride went on a run in the third quarter, closing the gap to 12-9 behind three-straight goals by Sheehan and Lynch.
Middlebury picked it back up in the fourth before eventually putting the game away in the fourth.
