Technology Gift Ideas for Holiday Season

I did one of these last year and I thought it would be good to do one again because nerds and techies are some of the hardest people to buy for, especially if you do not know what you are looking for. I know this for a fact because many people in my family will not buy me anything technology related unless I have specified what I want because I am very picky.

Guardians of the Galaxy– To start the list off, if your price range is on the smaller end and need a really good gift to get someone, there is no better place than right here. Guardians of the Galaxy was one of my favorite movies from this past year and might be one of my favorites in recent history. It has an awesome cast and the action does not disappoint.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes– I was reluctant to see the first of the reboots, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, because the one released in the mid-2000s was awful. After some persuading, my brother finally got me to watch it and I was blown away. This one was released this summer and takes place a short time after the first. The acting is phenomenal and the action is second to none. I would venture to say this one was better than the first.

22 Jump Street– Sequels generally are not very good and comedic sequels are usually worse. That is not the case with the second Jump Street. They are able to make a very similar movie just as funny if not funnier than the first with more ridiculous scenes and lines. They also spend a good amount of time making fun of themselves for being so similar to the first one.

Video Games

Dragon Age: Inquisition– I’m not big into RPGs at all but I know a lot of people love this game and I know a lot of people who play it religiously. It is a game that takes a lot of time to play so they will not be able to beat it within a couple weeks. If the person you are buying for has ever mentioned RPGs, this is the game to get.

Grand Theft Auto V: Remastered– This was on my “What to Buy” list last year and it is on it again this year because they re-released it on next gen consoles this past November. I have this game and had it for Xbox 360 and I still love it. The game has added some new missions to the single player as well as adding a whole first person mode to the game which makes it feel completely different. If you thought the game looked gorgeous on last gen systems, wait until you see it on this gen. NBA 2K15- People who know me know that I am not the biggest basketball fan out there but that does not mean I don’t know a good game when I play one. 2K is one of the best titles year in and year out and if your gamer is a sports fan, this is a surefire hit at Christmas. It looks amazing on next gen and there have been some good tweaks to gameplay which makes the game better than last year’s.

Others: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Destiny, Madden 15, NHL 15

Samsung Galaxy S5– This phone came out earlier this year and is a slightly bigger version than the S4. It runs on Android and is a very reliable phone.

iPhone 6/6 Plus– Taking a page out of Samsung’s book, Apple decided to make their new models of the iPhones a tad bit bigger with the 6s becoming their version of the Galaxy Note.

Microsoft Surface Pro III-You’ve probably seen the commercials for it. It’s essentially what you get when a laptop and a tablet have a kid. The keyboard works really well and the touch screen is very responsive.

Christmas can be a stressful time of year for those of you who do not know what to get your loved ones so hopefully this can help a bit.
