The Springfield College men’s and women’s tennis teams have been undefeated through the past two weeks.
During their spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., the men won all four of their matches against Roger Williams (8-1), Gettysburg (7-2), Scranton (7-2) and Transylvania (9-0). Following their trip, Springfield continued its strong showing at home by winning its following two matches last week against Rhode Island College (9-0) and Western Connecticut State (9-0).
“I believe that I can attribute my recent success to some of our team’s values from this season which are grit and resiliency,” said junior Chris Unger regarding his streak of losing one set over the past three meets.
Grit and resiliency can also be seen on the women’s side. During the spring break trip, they also won their three matches against Goucher (9-0), Illinois Wesleyan (8-1) and Transylvania (7-2).
“The spring break trip really allows our teams to nurture and build deeper relationships with each other,” said coach Chad Stoloff, on the benefits of the spring break trip. “They have the time and environment that is conducive to developing stronger bonds.”
The men’s team will be back in action on Friday at 3:30 pm at Curry College, while the women will be facing off at Curry College on Saturday at 12 pm.
