BOSTON – On a rainy Tuesday afternoon the Springfield College men’s soccer team took a trip East to visit the Leopards of the Wentworth Institute of Technology for a non-conference matchup.

The Pride got back to their winning ways with a 2-1 victory in overtime against the Leopards. The win moved Springfield to 6-3 on the season and snapped their one game losing skid. Christian Schneider was the hero as he headed home a goal off an assist from Brad Deckel to give Springfield the victory.

The goal was Schneider’s third of the season, tied for the most on the team with the aforementioned Deckel. So far, Deckel (three goals, two assists, eight points) and Schneider (three goals, six points) have been the offense for Springfield this season.

On Tuesday, the Pride got on the scoreboard first. Sophomore Emmanuel Agyemang jetted down the right sideline of the field and corralled a pass from Jack Rosenberg. Agyemang buried the shot in the lower left corner of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead. The goal was Agyemang’s second of the season.

The Leopards would rally to tie the game at the 47:38 mark when Noah Martinez buried a goal in the top right of the net after Springfield failed to clear the ball off of a missed shot.

The teams would end up playing to a stalemate before the Schneider goal ended things in overtime.

Stewart Frank was in net for Springfield and he had three saves on the afternoon. Springfield had more corner kicks (7) than Wentworth (4). The Pride also out shot the Leopards in the game. Springfield had 21 shots (11 on goal) to only 14 (four on goal) for Wentworth.

Next up for the Pride is a return to their home field, for their first home game in nearly three weeks. Springfield will be hosting NEWMAC opponent Clark University at 12pm on Saturday.
