Springfield College mens basketball ranked No. 7 in the country in latest D3hoops poll

Springfield College mens basketball is ranked No. 7 in the country in a preseason poll that was put out by d3hoops.com on Thursday.

The Pride are joined on the list by fellow NEWMAC program MIT. The Engineers, who are ranked No. 5, advanced all the way to the Elite 8 in last year’s tournament. With the Pride and MIT the only two teams in the NEWMAC nationally ranked, that should make the two teams’ matchup on Jan. 16. a can’t-miss showdown.

Nebraska-Wesleyan, the team Springfield fell to in the national semifinals, is ranked No. 1. The team received 24 out of 25 possible first-place votes. Augustana, who sits at No. 3, received the other first-place vote.

At the conclusion of last season, d3hoops.com had the Pride ranked at No. 4 in the country, three spots higher than where the team sits today.

The journey to upholding the team’s No. 7 ranking starts Monday when the program takes to Dana Gym for its first day of tryouts.
