When Kanye West jumped on stage after Beck was awarded album of the year, all audience members and viewers rolled their eyes and quietly muttered, “Here we go again.”
After a night of surprises at the Grammys on Sunday, West in an interview with E! spouted off on rock artist Beck for winning the Album of the Year award, when he clearly thought it should’ve been Beyoncé, stating, “when you keep on diminishing art, and not respecting the craft, and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.”
Jangly, nostalgic indie rock has been in vogue over the last few years. Unlike many other trends, it has proved to be refreshing.
In a week with scant new music releases, I decided to utilize the last issue of the semester to review an album I found personally significant in 2014. Rather than reviewing what I feel was the best all-around album, or even a personal favorite, I decided to review the album I replayed the most throughout the year.
