Men’s Basketball: Losses to Coast Guard and Emerson dropped the Pride’s record to 7-16. Curtiss Blische had a productive week, including his first double-double of the season against Coast Guard, a 17-point 10-rebound effort. Josiah Evely led the way with 15 points against Emerson.
Women’s Basketball: Both Rachel Vinton and Angela Czeremcha picked up weekly honors as the Pride extended their win streak to seven. Amanda Leary’s offensive explosion helped Springfield overcome Salve Regina’s strong start. She posted 28 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Pride outscored Salve 36-10 in the fourth quarter to secure the 75-59 win. Springfield proceeded to achieve its first win at Babson since 2018, as Czeremcha’s 15-point 14-rebound double-double led the way to a 65-53 win and extended the winning streak to seven games.
Men’s Gymnastics: Sam Kaplan’s stellar all-around performance earned him the ECAC Men’s Gymnast of the Week, but also helped the Pride top William & Mary and put up a score of 397.850, their best since 2016. Kaplan won the all-around and the parallel bars, with Will Wilson winning the floor and rings, and Felix Kriedmann and Peyton Cramer tying for first on the pommel horse with scores of 13.700.
Women’s Gymnastics: In a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College, Springfield finished second, narrowly beating out RIC by a tenth of a point. Ayako Maeda had the best individual finish for the Pride, finishing third on the uneven bars.
Men’s Swimming and Diving: The Pride’s last meet before the NEWMAC championships was a loss to Babson. The individual winners were led by classmates Ryan Goolsbey and Jonathan Chan. Goolsbey won both distance events, the 1000 and 500-freestyles, while Chan took first in the 200-IM and 200-fly. Other winners included Rocky Tang in the 200-breast and Christian Butler in the 3-meter dive.
Women’s Swimming and Diving: A win over Babson left the Pride with a dual record of 9-6. The Pride picked up 10 wins on their senior day, with senior Elizabeth Athanas nabbing two and classmates Carolyn Blenk, Emma Baumhauer and Megan Crawford with one each. Other winners included Emma Savoie, Natalie Norbut, Natalie Chamberlin and Elizabeth Santos.
Men’s Track and Field: In the Pride’s trip to Boston, first-year Colin Hansen left his mark, winning the 400-meter dash and finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Brady Cote earned a third place finish in the 600-meter, as did Daniel McGlashan in the triple-jump.
Women’s Track and Field: Katherine DeFosse delivered another strong performance in her young career. She posted three top three finishes, including winning the 60-meter hurdles. Samantha Paul got second place in the triple jump, and Kate Bonnano was runner-up in the 5000-meter run.
Men’s Volleyball: After rising to No. 4 in the AVCA Coaches Poll, the Pride delivered, with sweeps of No. 13 NYU and Endicott. NYU’s attack was stymied by Springfield’s block, hitting to a poor .072 percentage. Evan Costley’s 11 kills and career-high 10 digs led the Pride, while Sam Levinson added 10 kills. The Pride’s 12.5 team blocks helped stop Endicott, with Levinson’s nine kills as the top mark.
Wrestling: The No. 25 Pride’s lone meet this week was a dual against WPI, in which the Pride won 28-20. Gianni Manginelli, Ryan Kozdra and Myles Leonard all recorded pins early in the meet, with Ty Stewart earning a win by decision. Casey Allen and Ben Katz’s wins at 197 and 285 helped the Pride secure the win.
