Field Hockey- The Pride’s struggles continued this week. In a 2-1 loss against WPI, Springfield failed to get going offensively with just two shots on goal. Camryn Morano tied it up, but WPI responded to take the lead for good. The script was flipped in a 3-2 loss to Mount Holyoke, firing 23 shots on goal – but 21 were saved. Kaitlin Bardellini scored twice to take a 2-1 lead, but the Lyons forced overtime, eventually hitting the winner two minutes in. Springfield hopes to snap its five game skid against Wellesley and Albertus Magnus.

Football- The Pride won their 14th consecutive NEWMAC game with a 42-10 victory over WPI. Springfield was dominant from the opening kick, with Hunter Hayes forcing a fumble, and Arsen Shtefan scoring on the third play from scrimmage. Joe Cannizzaro found paydirt twice; while Jacob Silvester and Dante Vazquez also added touchdowns. Billy Carr scored for the first time with a 21-yard scoop-and-score. Springfield’s defense was superb, registering four sacks and forcing three fumbles. Springfield travels to take on NEWMAC rival MIT on Saturday.

Golf- Head Coach Joe Eadie was named MASCAC Golf Coach of the Week for the Pride’s victory at the MASCAC Invitational. David Girouard led the Pride as the runner up, shooting a 153 for the weekend. All five golfers finished in the top 10, with Nick DeMaio and Amir Ardolino joining Girouard in the top five. The Pride look to continue their success this weekend in Saratoga, N.Y. at the Skidmore Invitational.

Men’s Soccer- The Pride earned a scoreless draw against Coast Guard and a win at Skidmore. Noah Pote kept a pair of clean sheets – giving him a conference leading seven on the season – and made 10 saves. Against Skidmore, Cam Cruz scored his second goal of the season, while Jack Habersaat scored for the first time in his career. Springfield hits the road to play MIT and Worcester St.

Women’s Soccer- Kristin Cannon’s squad split its pair of games, losing 2-0 to RPI and defeating Wheaton 1-0. Springfield outshot RPI, but a strong defensive performance left the Pride scoreless. Taking on Wheaton, Maddie Daigneault fed Natalia Mottura for a 60th minute winner, and Taryn Ryan was flawless to keep the Lyons off the board. The win pushed Springfield to 3-0 in conference play, and it looks forward to two NEWMAC contests against Coast Guard and MIT.

Women’s Volleyball- The Pride took care of business against Emerson and Smith. Battling Emerson, Maeve Voltz led the Pride to a clean win, racking up 16 kills in just 22 total attempts, helping her win NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. Springfield dropped its first set since Sept. 23 against Clark, but rallied to a 3-1 victory. It was a balanced offensive effort, with Natalie Billet adding 13 kills and Ally Townsend putting up over 10 digs for the seventh straight game. The Pride look to win their 13th straight versus Coast Guard.
