The Springfield College track team competed against WPI, Mount Holyoke and Coast Guard at home this past weekend. The women finished in 2nd place with a score of 119 points, while the men finished in 3rd place with a score of 75 points.
The women were led by Courtney Luscier who dashed to a first place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.41 seconds. Darian Dailey jumped to a first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.26 meters and first in the triple jump with a distance of 10.97 meters. Carly Markos finished first in the hammer throw with a distance of 49.84 meters. The 4×100 meter relay team consisting of Courtney Luscier, Darian Dailey, Erin Womboldt and Amanda Wright finished 1st with a combined time of 50.17 seconds. Abigail Wright rounded out the women’s’ impressive string of performances by taking 1st in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.41 and 1st in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:45.92.
The men were led by Marlon Black who jumped to a first place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.14 seconds. Alexander Niemiec (1.93 meters) and Jason Laramee (1.88 meters) finished first and second respectively in the high jump. Whitton Devaux powered his way to a first place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 58.17 meters. Brandon Hammerstrom rounded out the men’s strong round of performances by taking first in the shot put with a distance of 14.33 meters and first in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.19 meters.
The team will look to continue their momentum as they head into the Springfield College Classic next weekend at home.
