At halftime of the football game on Saturday, Springfield College Athletics hosted a Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Football Toss. The goal of the contest was to throw as many football’s into a giant Dr. Pepper can as the contestants could in a minute.
Two Springfield students went head-to-head, and the winner of the competition earned a 5,000 dollar scholarship, while the loser was given 2,500 dollars.
The two students, Kevin Ierardi and Carolyn Ives, competed to throw as many footballs in a large, blow-up Dr. Pepper bottle as possible. They both took different angles, with Ierardi opting for an overhand approach, while Ives went underhand.
In the end, Ierardi won, with both presented with their checks alongside President Mary-Beth Cooper.
