On Dec. 13 and 15, Springfield College will host the second annual Holiday Bazaar in the Richard B. Flynn Campus Union. The Holiday Bazaar will feature products from several of Springfield College’s own student organizations, as well as a variety of outside vendors.

“The holiday bazaar is a way for students to get some last minute Christmas shopping done for friends and family while at the same time supporting the clubs on campus that are the main vendors for the event,” said Student Government Association President Kristina Dupuis.

The SGA is organizing the event and will have a table at the event. Each club will have a table with a small gift that students are encouraged to purchase. The proceeds from the sales will go to the club.

“SGA is selling little holiday gift bags that can be filled with anything from candy, to make your own ornaments to pencils,” said President Dupuis. “A cute roommate gift for Hanukkah or Christmas or even a stocking stuffer. Each bag is $3, and the students can pick and choose what to put in them.”

The Holiday Bazaar will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the SGA, other clubs that will be participating are the SC Dancers, Springfield College Outreach Community, the Environmental Club, the Therapeutic Recreation Club, the Class of 2015 and the Criminal Justice Club. Each club will have their own table and gift.

Several outside vendors will also be present and will also be selling holiday gifts.

“Student clubs have the opportunity to use this as a fundraiser and all proceeds that they earn go towards their club.” said President Dupuis. “Students should come to support the different clubs and organizations on campus and to get some last minute shopping done.”

The SGA is hoping that the timing of the event will draw the student body into the Campus Union. In addition to the merchandise table, the SGA is providing entertainment in an effort to spark more interest for the event.

“[Senior] Adam Sickler is performing on Tuesday and a steel drum band is performing on Thursday,” said Vice President of Student Organizations Taline Abrahamian. “So hopefully, it will be like ‘Oh, something at the Union,’ [and] a lot of people will come and even just hang out.”

The Holiday Bazaar is the last SGA event of the semester, and the student government is hoping to see a good turnout.
