It is always exciting when members of our student body are recognized for their excellence, but this week two of our athletes brought home particularly exciting honors.
Football’s Mike Davis led the way for the Pride on Saturday, running for 184 yards and four touchdowns — including the last three scores — as Springfield beat Mount Ida 49-42.
For his efforts, Davis was awarded the Liberty League’s co-Offensive Player of the Week award. This the first recognition for a Springfield athlete in the league.
“It’s nice to have our first player recognized in the league,” said football coach Mike DeLong. “Mike was outstanding and some of those runs were big, big plays.”
Davis was also named the ECAC Division III Northwest Offensive Player of the Week.
Anthony Salvucci earned his second-straight NEWMAC Male Runner of the Week after finishing second at the Dartmouth Invitational.
