Two Patriots tickets and two Bruins tickets are up for grabs Thursday Oct 20. Campus Recreation will be hosting “Rec the Night” from 10 p.m. until 12 a.m. in the Field House where teams of two will be competing in either Kan Jam or Corn Hole in a double elimination bracket. The winning team in Kan Jam receives the Patriots tickets, while the winning team in Corn Hole will be getting the Bruins tickets. The students who get second place at these events can win a massage from the Wellness Center.
Scott Woodaman, the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, along with Matt Delmonte and Cam Dwyer, both Graduate Assistants, have been trying to make the Wellness Center the go to place for late night activities.
“We want people to be coming to the Wellness Center and campus recreation and enjoying what we have to offer,” said Woodaman. “There is so much stuff that happens in this building that on-campus students don’t understand or don’t know about.”
While these events are taking place there will be other field games going on like knock out and other typical lawn games. At these events, the winners can receive smaller, more traditional prizes. “We really want people to come, we want them to stay the whole time, and we want them to enjoy it,” said Woodaman.
Just two nights later on Saturday Oct 22, Campus Recreation will be hosting another late night event, inner tube water polo. In this event, students will need to get in teams of six and will be competing in the pool from 10 p.m until 12 a.m. for high valued prizes.
Campus Recreation is looking to making these late-night events the best they can be. At these events, there will be surveys and questionnaires to see what students want at the next late-night event.
“These are kind of just to get people there. From there, we are going to start taking information and using our statistics of what students are asking for to put on better programs and how we can enhance those,” said Woodaman.
