Opening in 1963, Red Rose Pizzeria has a certain reputation around the community. Simply put, it is the best pizza around. My expectations were high going in, and the pleasant service and welcoming environment were a great start. It surprised me how large the space was, with multiple dining areas, and the kitchen neatly available to view. Once the pie arrived, it did not disappoint. A tangy, full sauce and delicious cheese covered the fluffy crust and perfectly cooked bottom. Red Rose remains a staple of downtown Springfield, and for good reason. It is the epitome of everything you want out of an Italian restaurant and a good slice of pizza.
