The Pizza Shoppe- 34 Shaker Rd, East Longmeadow, MA
For the new semester, it was time to travel outside the boundaries of Springfield and head to The Pizza Shoppe located in East Longmeadow. It was a large space with a nice main dining area and bar through the doorway. There was an extended whiteboard with a ton of local sketches and artwork, and picturesque Italian paintings. The service was relaxed and friendly, but the menu was missing the old reliable, the personal pie. I opted for the medium, which was the usual 12’ inches of a personal anyway, but with the added price. The slices came out quickly but didn’t come with much going for them. The cheese was fine, but the sauce was mostly lost in the mix. Above all, the iceberg of this ship was the crust. It was clearly undercooked, doughy and soft. It was borderline mushy, indicating a mistake in the dough preparation. A good area and decent cheese and sauce were torpedoed by the crust. The Pizza Shoppe lands at an indifferent 2.5 stars.
