Men’s Basketball: The Pride split a pair of contests this week, falling to No. 18 Williams and taking down Emmanuel in their last games before winter break. Gary Bess had a game-high 23 points against Williams, but a late run by the Ephs put the game out of reach for Springfield, winning 61-56. Josiah Evely and Joe Hoch each set career-highs in the win over Emmanuel, scoring 22 and 21 points in the 77-64 victory, as the Pride led for all but 18 seconds in the dominant win. Springfield now stands with a 3-5 record.
Women’s Basketball: A loss to Rhode Island College on Monday ended the Pride’s seven game winning streak. Springfield won their first game of the week handily over Gordon, 76-49. Rachel Vinton and Jaélen Daubon led the team with 14 points apiece, with Lindsey Laughlin also scoring in double figures. They scored a season-low 40 points against RIC, with Daubon’s 12 points leading the way. Despite the loss to the RIC, the Pride sit at 8-2 as they enter a near three-week break from competition.
Wrestling: Springfield held their first dual meet of the season, defeating Roger Williams under the lights of Blake Arena on Friday night.
