Chelsea Corr-Limoges is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at Springfield College and arrived on campus in September 2020. She educates students about different kinds of sciences such as Physics and Hydrology.

The Student sat down with Corr-Limoges to learn about what got her into science, and her favorite memory of Springfield College.

Student: What made you choose Springfield College?

Corr-Limoges: I really liked the colleagues I met and the students seemed really nice. I liked how it was a small, kind of close-knit and it was a really good area. I’m from the Northeast and I was ready to come back. I was in Colorado right before that, so I was ready to be back in New England.

Student: What got you into science?

Corr-Limoges: I’ve always been a little bit of a nerd. When I was 10, I saw a water spout form over Cape Cod when I was on vacation there with my family and I was convinced it was a tornado. I called it that at the time and nobody else believed me but I was vindicated when I saw it on The Weather Channel that afternoon.

Student: Do you have a favorite subject of science?

Corr-Limoges: I like the atmosphere –  atmospheric science, meteorology and climate science. I love what lies above us, but not too far out into space.

Student: What’s your favorite spot on campus?

Corr-Limoges: I really love the Dodge room in the union, it’s got such a beautiful view there of Watershops Pond. It’s so pretty. I’ve seen eagles flying over there, it was very majestic.

Student: What do you do in your spare time?

Corr-Limoges: I do try to spend as much time I can with my family. During the semester it’s pretty challenging but [we] love the usual stuff such as watching shows and travelling around the area seeking out different events. One of my favorite things that we did recently was we went to Magic Wings up in Greenfield, it’s a butterfly conservatory.

Student: What has been your favorite memory of Springfield College?

Corr-Limoges: I don’t have a specific one, but some of my favorite memories do come from the classroom and the relationships I build with the students. We have some good laughs and times in class. Also the times I get to spend with my friends. I’ve made some awesome friends here, other science nerds like me who also like to teach and hang out.
