Springfield College Helping Hurricane Sandy Victims

Even though Springfield College dodged Hurricane Sandy two weeks ago, the school will still like to lend a helping hand.

Until Nov. 14, the Office of Student Activities will be collecting cleaning supplies and non-perishable items to help those affected by the storm.
The supplies collected will be distributed to Staten Island, Rockaway, Breezy Point, Queens, and portions of the Jersey Shore.

Emails were sent out to all students on Tuesday from the account of the Director of Student Activities and Campus Union, Carl Stiles, informing students of when and where they can send supplies.

Everyday items and cleaning supplies such as mops, brooms, batteries, detergent, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes toothpaste and other toiletries are needed. Heavy duty garbage bags, packing tape, working gloves, and hygienic masks are also needed to help clean up the still damaged areas of the east coast.

Chunky soups, tuna fish, beans, bread, stews, jelly, peanut butter and canned ravioli are some of the non-perishable items asked as part of this weeklong drive.
