Springfield College men’s soccer allows late goal, falls to Babson

WELLESLEY – Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers field on the campus of Babson College in Wellesley the Springfield College Pride men’s soccer team saw their two game win streak snapped when they fell to the Babson College Beavers, 2-1.

The game was tied at 1 and then at the 78:22 Babson’s Noah Parker lined up for a free kick after a foul on the Pride. Parker was able to direct the shot towards the net and Liam Hanlon put in in for the Beavers to give them the lead and ultimately the victory.

Springfield fell behind early in the game when Chris Czarnecki scored his first goal of the season for the Beavers at the 26:44 mark. Noah Parker had the assist.

The Pride rallied back to tie things at the 66:01 mark in the game. Xavi Arroyo had a free kick that landed inside the box and Justin Breedlove was able to corral it and put it home for his first goal of the season.

Springfield had a 13-10 advantage in shots, but the Pride were only able to direct five of their 13 shots on goal, compared to 8 on goal for the Beavers.

Stewart Frank made five saves in the game for Springfield. Justin Breedlove and Arroyo were the only members of the team to tally points on the day. The loss dropped Springfield to 1-1 in NEWMAC play on the season.

The Pride return to action on Tuesday, September, 25th when they will travel to face Wentworth College. That game will get underway at 7 p.m.
