The last time Springfield College saw its men’s volleyball team in Blake Arena, the Pride were knocking off Carthage in the inaugural Division III NCAA championship match. Returning all but one player from last year’s championship squad, the Pride have started the season 4-1 and will play their first big game of the season against on Friday night in bitter rival Juniata.

Juniata was the only Division III team to beat Springfield last season and the rivalry is considered to be the best in collegiate volleyball. This will be the Pride’s first match against a top-five team this season and will test their No. 1 ranking against the No. 3 Juniata.

Harvard and Loyola (Ill.) will play in the other match, played at 6 p.m. on Friday.

As part of Springfield Athletics new weekly web show Inside the Pride, Bri Hill talked to several members of the Pride about this weekend and what it means to play against Juniata. Check it out below.
