After a dominating final season with the Pride, senior Ava Adamopoulos was named as a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team All-Conference student-athlete.

To earn this title, Adamopoulos averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.2 steals in just 24.5 minutes per game.  While coming off the bench, the 6-foot-2 center was unstoppable in the paint, leading the team in both rebounds and points.

Adamopoulos helped the Pride to an 19-8 overall record and an impressive 13-3 NEWMAC regular season record, producing 8 double-doubles this winter.  On Jan. 9, she was named the NEWMAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) New England Player of the Week, and was also named to the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll.

“It was really amazing,” said Adamopoulos.  While she admits that she doesn’t typically focus on accolades, but rather just tries to play, she was excited, stating, “It’s a nice honor, and it’s a nice way to cap off my senior year.”

Adamopoulos’s career as a member of the Pride totals 970 points.  She also earns a spot in the Springfield College Women’s Basketball Individual Career Records in two categories: rebounds and blocked shots.  With 635 total rebounds, the center will rank 6th overall, in addition to 84 blocks ranking her 4th overall.

Also earning a spot in the record books is senior Lexi Windwer, who will rank first overall in two categories: 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goals attempted.  Windwer splashed 199 shots from the arc, after taking a record breaking 664 over the course of her career.

The 5-foot-6 guard also received NEWMAC honors, after being named to the NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  While brand new to the conference, its intent is to recognize one student-athlete from each team in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of overall performance or statistics.
