Jake Ross exploded onto the college season back on Nov. 15 against Western New England when he led the Pride to a 80-69 victory against the cross-town rival, he finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds. From that game on, he never looked back.

Ross was named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year on Tuesday. The first year star has already dropped 590 points in his young athletic career and led the NEWMAC conference in points-per game (22.7), steals per-game (1.8) and was second in rebounds per-game (9) this season.

He has also acquired many other accolades on top of his rookie of the year recognition. He was named NEWMAC athlete of the week on four separate occasions this year and has accumulated several player of the week accolades from the ECAC as well.

Fellow freshman Heath Post was also recognized for his exemplary sportsmanship on the court by being placed on the NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship team, a true testament and example of what being a sportsman, even in the heat of a back and forth match-up can get you.
