Being a senior, it’s officially the beginning of the end. No more summer reading followed by another school year. No more winter breaks and no more spring breaks.
I, along with five of my roommates, went to Cancun for spring break this year. Saying we had the time of our lives would be an understatement.
It wasn’t the fact that we all went on a trip together to an amazing place. Or that it was all-inclusive, and we had VIP access to everything. Or that we were surrounded by thousands of college kids.
The key to our great time was that we went through studentcity.com. StudentCity was founded 12 years ago and is the number one spring break broker for U.S. college students. Over 10,000 college students travel through them every spring break to 13 different destinations.
Now don’t think this is just a plug to get StudentCity’s name out there. I am serious. If you’re an underclassmen looking to have the best spring break of your life next year, then listen to these words.
When we stepped off the plane in Cancun, we were ushered onto a bus filled with college kids from all over the Northeast going to the same place we were. Nothing could have prepared us for what we were about to experience.
When we arrived out our resort, our jaws dropped.
“It was like nothing I had ever seen,” said senior Pat Marra. “I felt like I was living in a dream.
“The place they had us staying in was so nice and sophisticated. The beach we were at was amazing. I’ve never seen water so blue.”
For the next five days, we would wake up, eat at the buffet, head to the pool and the beach for unlimited drinking, games, free food, thousands of people and endless sun.
“The first day was something special,” said Marra. “Everyone was there for one reason, to have a good time, and everyone was so friendly.”
What we didn’t expect was how fun the nightlife would be. Every night there was a different club to go to for free because of StudentCity’s party pass. The best part was that all of the people were there that we’d been hanging out with all day at our resort.
“Its like Vegas in Mexico,” said senior David Rocklage. “It was a nonstop party. We barely even slept.”
Two of the nights, we saw concerts. One was a Day-Glow and the other was Avicci. None of us had ever been to a Day-Glow party before.
“Day-Glow was so crazy,” said senior Dylan Guthiel. “There was paint everywhere, and people dancing on tables. It was nuts!”
Every night after the clubs closed, there was a StudentCity representative to help us get to the buses. They made everything so easy.
In total, we spent five days and five nights in Cancun. By the time we got back, we were friends with everyone who was on the plane with us on the way there.
“I’d never been out of the country before and it was the best trip of my life,” said senior Mario Napolitano. “It was the most fun I’ve ever had and I recommend that everyone go if they get the chance.”
It is an experience that none of us will ever forget and we’ll laugh about for the rest of our lives.
