Turkey day has come and gone, leaving us looking forward to the rest of the holiday season.
The holidays can be a stressful time for everyone. There are so many people to buy gifts for and seemingly never enough money to do so.
As college students, it is important to learn how to do Christmas on a budget. It is possible to get everyone near and dear to you something perfect this holiday without breaking your piggy bank.
To start, I would definitely make a Pinterest account and take a gander at all the do it yourself Christmas gift ideas. Some of the best ones involve creativity and really simple things you could buy at a dollar store. These DIY gifts are special because you spend time making them and they are often the most thoughtful.
For all the guys out there worried about what to get your girl: don’t worry, just listen. Seriously, your girlfriend has probably dropped really unsubtle hints as to what she wants. If she hasn’t, then don’t get all worked up about it; just think of something creative and special that comes straight from your heart. Girls just want you to put the effort in and spend a little time on them.
Girls have it tough because guys are pretty hard to shop for. Us girls probably spend more time beating our heads against the wall trying to figure out an idea than we do shopping for everyone else on our Christmas list combined.
It has occurred to me that girls have to listen to their boyfriends talk. If you listen, they will talk about things that will give you great gift ideas. Sometimes all it takes is surfing the Internet and wracking your brain to come up with something great.
It is also nice to buy guys clothes for Christmas. Go to J. Crew and buy him a nice sweater, some cool socks, and maybe even a cheap watch that’ll go the distance. It doesn’t have to be a $250 holiday, and it shouldn’t be.
Christmas is about giving gifts that means something to people, that doesn’t mean they have to be super expensive.
This time of year is great too because a lot of places are running sales, and that means you can score more expensive items for less money and that is always a bonus.
So be a smart shopper this Christmas and don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and make something creative for your special someone.
