The long emotional roller coaster is finally over as Ben Higgins gave the big engagement ring to Lauren Bushnell on The Bachelor last Monday. It was an intense night filled with tears and love.

The night started out in Jamaica with JoJo Fletcher and Bushnell meeting Higgins’ parents and they both made a great first impression. Bushnell set the bar pretty high going first, and we weren’t sure how Fletcher could top it, until she did.

Higgins’ mom thought he should pick Fletcher, but overall everyone was as unsure as Higgins was about what to do.

When it came down to it Higgins told Fletcher, “This was really hard, and I wish we could just take fun helicopter rides for the rest of our lives, but we can’t. I found love with you, but I found it with somebody else more.” Fletcher was obviously crushed but responded by saying, “I’m happy for you,” and then proceeded into the limo.

Higgins then called Bushnell’s dad for approval and before we knew it she was saying yes to his proposal without knowing that he told Fletcher he had been in love with her too.

Turns out Higgins told her what he had said to Fletcher soon after they got engaged and Bushnell said it felt like she was punched in the gut. Bushnell told ENews, “It obviously hurt…it was a lot to take in. It felt like a punch in the gut in a way, but it wasn’t anything that made me question him or question our relationship. But it was just more like, ‘Ow, that hurts.'”

The part in any engagement that people look forward to is the ring. Luckily for Bushnell, the ring was everything we dreamed it would be and more. The $95,000 ring is 4.6 carats with a center stone of a square-cut diamond with tiny diamonds surrounding it. It’s set in platinum and was also hand crafted and designed by Neil Lane. Higgins picked out the ring when he figured out whom he would be choosing. The ring is truly flawless and exceeded all expectations.

Moving on from the show, Bushnell and Higgins are happy to be able to finally go out in public together and start acting like a normal couple. Taking their relationship to the next level, Bushnell is moving to Denver, where Higgins lives. The pair appeared on The Today Show talking about where they are going from here. Higgins told Hoda Kotb, “”I think most of our days will consist of right now a lot of ‘Us Time.’ We need that in the public and just going out to dates and going out to dinner and going grocery shopping is something she really wants to do.”

It will be interesting to see how these two move forward from the show as we know the last Bachelor, Chris Soules, and his now ex-fiancé Whitney Bischoff, only lasted a few months from when the show ended. Needless to say, we wish a happily ever after to Higgins and Bushnell as they move on from the show and into an exciting time of their lives.
