VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week for April 18-24

This week’s nominees:

Sophie Curcio-  The sophomore ran an 8-second personal best in the 1500 meters (4:52)  at the Trinity Invitational.

Katie Martel- The senior lacrosse player scored a career-high of seven goals this past weekend vs. Wheaton.

Gillian Kane- Kane had an outstanding performance vs. Coast Guard, as she pitched all seven innings and only allowed two hits.

Gabriella Heaney- Secord- The junior helped the Pride sweep all of their doubles matches in a victory over Wheaton.

And on the men’s side:

Cadin Maynard – The junior catcher went 11-for-21 with two home runs and nine RBI throughout the Pride’s successful week of baseball. The highlight of his week was a go-ahead 3-run home run in the 8th inning against Clark to help lift Springfield to an 11-9 win.

Johjan Mussa Robles – The graduate libero for the men’s volleyball team provided excellent back row defense by compiling 36 digs in the Pride’s national semifinal and championship games.

Evan Weber – The first-year sprinter posted his quickest time of his career in the 100-meter race at the Trinity College Invitational with a time of 10.89. This was good enough to finish second in the event.

Jack Cooney – The graduate outfielder went 9-for-16 with two home runs and nine RBI along with two walks. This was highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles and four RBI in an 11-9 victory over Clark.
