VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week for April 3-9

This week’s nominees:

Bella Cardaropoli – The junior attacker for the women’s lacrosse team scored four goals and provided two assists in the Pride’s 22-4 victory over Emerson on Saturday.

Amelia DeRosa – The first-year pitcher/first baseman for the softball team went 15-for-21 with five doubles, a triple and a home run at the plate, and threw 11 innings with only one earned run allowed. On Tuesday, she hit for the first cycle in Springfield softball history.

Gabby Heaney-Secord – The senior women’s tennis player won two doubles matches and singles matches this past week, with one singles match consisting of two 6-0 set wins.

Sophie Warren – The junior thrower for the women’s track and field team finished first and set a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.95 meters at the Springfield College Classic on Saturday.

And on the men’s side:

Riley Burgmyer – The senior attacker for the men’s lacrosse team scored three goals and provided two assists in the Pride’s 24-13 victory over Emerson on Saturday.

Marc Villanueva Abad – The first-year tennis player won both his doubles and singles matches in the Pride’s two victories against Clark and Wheaton this past week.

Noah Weislo – The sophomore outside hitter for the men’s volleyball team combined for 28 kills in Springfield’s two games this past week.

Colby Wilson – The senior jumper for the men’s track and field team finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.81 meters at the Springfield College Classic.
