VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week for Jan. 30 – Feb. 5

This week’s nominees:

Grace Moore – The senior swimmer won the 100 backstroke at home on Sunday with a time of 1:01.45 and finished the 200 back in 2:14.77. Moore was also part of the second-place 200 medley relay group that recorded a time of 1:50.34.

Anne Kiley – The sophomore delivered the best score on the vault (9.425) in last Sunday’s meet at Rhode Island College. Kiley also produced Springfield’s top score on the bars with an 8.950 in the event.

Kathryn Bonanno – The sophomore set a personal-best time by almost 20 seconds as she finished in second-place overall in the one-mile with a time of 5:21.06 during the Bomber Invitational on Saturday.

Angela Czeremcha – The first-year forward had a breakout week for the women’s basketball team as she accumulated 38 points shooting 48% over three games. Czeremcha added 28 rebounds and eight steals over that stretch.

And on the men’s side:

Jarrett Anderson – The junior right-side hitter tallied 35 kills and 13 aces over three matches this week and collected Tournament MVP honors after his performance in the Morgan Classic Tournament.

Jamie Cocca – The field athlete launched a weight throw 14.86m, earning the longest distance of any Division III athlete competing in the John Thomas Terrier Classic last Sunday at Boston University.

Mason Yusko – The first-year collected a first-place high jump finish at the Bomber Invitational on Saturday at Ithaca College with a personal-best height of 1.95m.

Sam Ware – In the 197-pound weight class, Ware won 12-5 by major decision to help the wrestling team to a 35-15 win against Norwich on Friday.
