VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week for March 21-27

This week’s nominees:

Winter Osborne – The graduate student gymnast scored a 9.800 on the uneven bars to win the national championship in the event. She became the first Springfield College gymnast to win the national title on the uneven bars since 1996.

Taylor Suozzo – The first-year tennis player won both of her singles matches this past week, which included a 2-0 sweep on Wednesday against Connecticut College.

Alli Olsen – The sophomore outfielder went 5-for-15 with three runs batted in throughout the week, with two of those RBI coming in Springfield’s victory on Friday against No. 9 Eastern Connecticut State. She also drove in the go-ahead run of the game.

Jade O’Connor – The graduate student midfielder for the women’s lacrosse team combined for eight goals in the team’s two games this week.

And on the men’s side:

Brendan Kirck – The senior pitcher threw five perfect innings with six strikeouts against Bates on Saturday to set the Pride up for a combined seven-inning no-hitter.

Dominic Ramalho – The junior gymnast earned All-America honors in the all-around with a score of 76.400.

Zac Schuette – The senior attacker for the men’s lacrosse team combined for seven goals and six assists in two games. Five of the goals came in the team’s 15-14 victory over No. 11 Amherst, where Schuette scored the overtime game-winner.

Noah Bleakley – The graduate student first baseman/pitcher went 5-for-11 with two walks, three runs batted in, and a triple over three games. On Saturday, he also earned a save after a 1-2-3 inning to close out the Pride’s 6-5 win over Bates.
