VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week, Oct. 10-16

This week’s nominees:

Rielly Malz – The women’s tennis senior won in both singles (6-2, 6-1) and doubles (8-2) to help the team to an 8-1 win over Nichols on Wednesday.

Gabby Inkel – The field hockey senior back had the first two goals of her career and an assist in a 4-0 win over Clark on Saturday.

Kathryn Bonanno – Springfield women’s cross country’s top finisher in the 6k on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational with a time of 24:24.5 as the team finished 18th overall in a competitive field.

Sara Labadorf – Women’s volleyball’s setter totalled 89 assists, 24 digs and five aces in three matches for the Pride this week.

And on the men’s side:

Corey Roya – The men’s golf senior finished in a three-way tie on Sunday at the Blazer Invitational with 155 strokes as the team took fourth overall.

Clayton Knibbs – The men’s soccer goalie stopped five shots to help the team to a 1-0 shutout win over Coast Guard on Saturday.

Isaiah Cashwell-Doe – The star running back is nominated for the second straight week after collecting 144 yards on five rushing attempts and getting into the endzone twice in the team’s 56-7 blowout of Norwich on Saturday.

D’Aunte Moore – The senior cornerback played a major factor in the strong Springfield defense on Saturday with a fumble recovery and an interception in the football team’s 56-7 win.
