VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week, Oct. 3-9

This week’s nominees:

Kaitlyn Plummer – The sophomore forward scored the lone goal in field hockey’s 2-1 loss against Wheaton on Tuesday.

Natalie Billet – A first-year on the women’s volleyball team, the outside hitter has quickly become a mainstay in the lineup for the Pride. Over four games this week, Billet compiled 65 kills, 42 digs and six aces.

Camryn Bancroft – A graduate student on the women’s volleyball team, Bancroft has gotten off to another great year. In four games this week, the middle blocker totalled 39 kills, eight block assists and two solo blocks.

Brenna LaChapelle – The junior was Springfield’s top finisher on Saturday at the James Earley Invitational with a time of 19:27.7 which placed her 19th out of 179 student-athletes.

And on the men’s side:

Damon Monks – The first-year led the golf team in the MASCAC Championships on Monday and Tuesday as he tied for fourth overall. Monks delivered 10 pars, a pair of birdies and his first career hole-in-one.

John DeRosa – The junior, a consistent top finisher for the men’s cross country team, set a personal best in the 8k at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday with a time of 26:17.1 which placed him 13th of 164 student-athletes.

David Wells – The senior starting quarterback completed three of five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown on Saturday while also running nine times for 75 yards in the team’s route of Coast Guard.

Isaiah Cashwell-Doe – The senior running back had just five rushing attempts but picked up 68 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. Cashwell-Doe also caught a 35-yard pass.
