It’s crazy to think we’re back on this campus. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to be back but at the same time, I just can’t believe how fast this summer went by. Anyways, getting back to business is always pretty good and I’m looking forward to writing a weekly page two column this year.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a pretty opinionated person, mostly on sports but really on anything. Things like news events, politics, heck, even the weather, I have an opinion on it. I’m really looking forward to sharing my views this year in this space.
The first thing I want to touch on this school year is the return to Springfield College. Throughout the summer I’d find myself randomly craving to get back to school with my good friends out here, mainly because it’s always a good time.
Let’s tip our cap to the welcome week festivities here on campus, shall we? Bingo was a hit, per usual, while the tailgate on Friday night prior to the football game was excellent by all accounts I’ve heard. Oh, and who can go wrong with food trucks?
Let’s also throw some credit for the school getting creative with Groove Boston coming here this past Saturday night. That was a really good event, which a lot of students really enjoyed. Things like that are awesome, and they’ve made this year terrific right from the start. Good stuff, SC, very good stuff!
I’ll keep this short because, quite frankly, I won’t keep many things short this year. One thing I want to say is a message to the freshmen on this campus; it’s one I wish I knew when I got going here in the fall of 2012.
Have fun and enjoy it. These four years are going to be arguably the best four years of your life. Right now, I’m sure it seems like you have forever to go before you graduate, but you really don’t. It comes up fast, people, trust me. I can’t believe that I’ll be done come May. I really can’t.
Like I said, enjoy it and have some fun. Whatever you do, don’t take your time here for granted, live it to the fullest. Cheesy as can be, I know, but it’s something I wish someone told me before I eased into the college grind.
I’ve had a great first week back, and I hope everyone else has too. Here’s to making the 2015-2016 school year one to remember, my friends.
