Op-Eds Opinion

The Diversity of Fashion

On this campus we definitely have a broad range of styles because of the many kinds of people at this school. We have our jocks, our gym rats, our seriously trendy friends, our friends that just don’t care, and we can’t forget our friends who ride their longboards to class.

fashionOn this campus we definitely have a broad range of styles because of the many kinds of people at this school. We have our jocks, our gym rats, our seriously trendy friends, our friends that just don’t care, and we can’t forget our friends who ride their longboards to class.

Each group seems to have their own unique style. For example, the jocks rock their gym shorts and athletic gear and look awesome doing it. It is one of the most common looks at Springfield because this is such an athletic school.

The next group is the gym rats. The spandex wearing, snap back rocking, muscle heads that we all love so much. This group lives for name brands like Nike, Under Armour and of course, Rouge. This group loves their fancy, high-end spandex that makes working out so much more fun. It is a style, and members of this group would argue its more than that, it’s a lifestyle.

Now for our trendy friends who make getting up and getting ready in the morning an art. These are the people who roll out of bed, straighten their hair, put on makeup and walk out of their rooms looking like they just stepped out of a magazine. Seriously, the fashion sense some of the people at this school have is breathtaking. It takes a lot of time and effort to look that cute, so props to the people that can get out of bed in the morning and make that happen.

Then we have the polar opposite of the previous group: the people that don’t have a care in the world. They roll out of bed into their nicest sweatpants and proceed to seize the day in a comfy fashion.

Lastly, we have the skateboard/ longboard riding kids who save themselves the five-minute walk to class. These kids always have the most easygoing, carefree look about them. They have that long hair that blows in the breeze along with their graphic T’s and skinny jeans.

Even though each of these groups has their own distinctive style, sometimes the groups overlap. It is important for college students to experience the ways and styles of the different groups on campus. It broadens appreciation and understanding of fellow classmates. It is also interesting to take in the different styles on this one campus. We all have these unique styles, but by the time the weekend rolls around, we all clean up pretty nicely.
