VOTE: The Springfield Student Athlete of the Week, Oct. 24-30

This week’s nominees:

Grace Majka – The junior scored two goals in three field hockey games this week including the first goal of Springfield’s 3-2 win at Gordon on Tuesday.

Kellie Smith – The women’s soccer junior scored both of the two goals in the team’s 3-2 loss against Clark on Wednesday.

Brenna LaChapelle – The top finisher in the women’s cross country team’s seventh place finish in the NEWMAC Championship on Saturday with a time of 24:21.7.

Sara Labadorf – Senior setter totalled 69 assists and 15 digs in two women’s volleyball games this week.

And on the men’s side:

Aiden Casinghino – The men’s soccer junior recorded a hat-trick in the team’s 7-1 win over Castleton on Tuesday.

John DeRosa – A consistent top finisher for the men’s cross country team, the junior finished with a time of 26:20.8 to carry the team to a fourth place finish in the NEWMAC Championship on Saturday.

Tim Callahan – The fullback was the main offensive force for the Pride football team as it defeated then-conference leader Merchant Marine 28-23 at Stagg Field on Saturday. Callahan ran 30 times for 137 yards and a touchdown.

Kyle Niehr – The senior defensive back had a game sealing interception and a forced fumble earlier in the game that helped Springfield football to its fourth straight conference victory this season. Niehr also had nine total tackles in the 28-23 win.
