Its fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A! Springfield College’s vast history involves many people, organizations and sports, but one organization has been the foundation since SC inception in 1885. That organization is the YMCA. Even today, with the roots of the YMCA spread across the globe, Springfield College remains connected to its origins through the YMCA offices in Judd Gymnasia.

Y-Club, and other YMCA activities here at SC, is offered to those associated or part of the YMCA Professional Studies minor or anyone interested in becoming an impactful leader through Spirit, Mind and Body. Aside from on-campus events that help teach leadership skills, the club also provides opportunities to meet other students and travel.

Lead by students, Y-Club ensues that all participants stay active and enjoy their YMCA and Springfield College experience. Upcoming events for the Club include:

Monday, September 23, The Big E Parade;

Fri.-Sun., September 27-29, Y Lead ’13: Building Your Foundation;

Thursday, October 10, YMCA Career Exploration Day;

Fri.-Mon., October 11-14, Silver Bay Volunteer Weekend; Friday, October 25, Westfield YMCA Haunted House;

Friday, November 1, Throw Down (Dance run by Y-Club and SSBD);

Fri.-Sun., November 8-10, YMCA Fall Leaders Rally Camp Greenkill, N.Y.

Y-Club meets every Tuesday in Cheney A & B at 12 p.m. This week’s meeting will include networking discussions to help students learn how to present themselves towards potential work places and make them stand out. On October 15, Y-Club will be tye-dyeing shirts and all are welcome to come.

Why the Y-Club? Internship experiences, professional development opportunities, networking, leadership development, adventure, travel, outdoor activities and most importantly, fun!

All students are welcome to join Y-Club and the YMCA Professional Studies minor. If you have any questions contact Director Harry Rock at or Erin Friedman
